Paris (in French Paris) is the capital and largest city of France and the 6th largest city of Europe. Paris the capital of the Region Ile de France. The city originally known as Lutecia during the Roman Empire slowly changed to Paris. In 987 Hugh Capet, Count of Paris became King of France and made Paris capital of France. From I852 to I870 the city underwent massive renovation under the initiative of Emperor Napoleon III and the Seine Prefet Baron Haussmann creation wide Avenues and open Spaces. The Eiffel Tower was build for the centennela of the French Revolution in I889. During World War II the city was almost undamaged in particular as the German General von Choltitz refused to carry out the order to destroy all Monuments.
